The Bill & Melinda Gates foundation is announcing grants awarded under Grand Challenges Explorations Round 23 and highlighting two grant opportunities that are now open.
Grand Challenges Explorations grants awarded: Twenty-nine researchers from 12 countries received an initial grant of USD$100,000. Grand Challenges Explorations (GCE) has awarded initial grants to 1514 investigators in 71 countries, targeting a diverse set of global health and development challenges. Applications are only two pages, with no preliminary data required. Applicants can be at any experience level; in any discipline; and from any type of organization, including colleges and universities, government laboratories, research institutions, non-profit organizations and for-profit companies. The next application round for GCE will be in February 2020.
Grand Challenges Africa grant opportunity: Grand Challenges Africa is launching Round 8 of its Innovation Seed Grants program. This new request for proposals focuses on the top priorities for maternal, neonatal, and child health in Africa to meet the Sustainable Development Goal targets. Application deadline is January 14, 2020.
Digital Payment Solutions funding opportunity: The CIIE.CO entrepreneurship center in India, the National Payments Corporation of India, and the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation have launched a request for proposals – for innovators around the world – seeking new digital payment solutions that make transactions easy and secure for feature phone users in India. Application deadline is January 12, 2020.
