18.6 miles for justice – we couldn’t have done it without you!

Over the weekend, Women’s March and partners marched from the NRA headquarters in Virginia to the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. to call for civil rights charges in the tragic and senseless killing of Philando Castile, and to proudly and bravely strive for the respect of the civil and human rights of all people. Over 350 people marched the 18.6 miles through scorching heat and torrential rains, and 1,500 more joined the rallies at the beginning and end of the route. Solidarity actions were planned in dozens of locations across the nation, because we know that no one is safe until everyone is safe.

While the mobilization is over, you can still join in the growing momentum to our call for justice. Click below to send a letter to the DOJ asking for civil rights charges to be filed, as well as a letter to your member of Congress asking them to co-sponsor an important bill to end the use of racial profiling as a police tactic.

TAKE ACTION NOW

This weekend could not have been such an incredible success without you. However you participated, Women’s March has deep respect and gratitude:

Thank you for marching. The people who marched 18.6 miles endured the height of summer heat and torrential rain, in addition to blisters, broken toes, and physical discomfort. Your efforts made an immediate difference — each mile you walked inspired someone to plan a new solidarity action somewhere in the nation. Thank you to those who planned or attended one of the over 2 dozen solidarity actions! Together we stood on the right side of history.

Thank you for volunteering. It is no exaggeration to say we could not have done it without you. From handing out cold water to stocking the rest stops with snacks, keeping marchers safe and assisting those who had trouble in the heat, your labor of love made the #NRA2DOJ march the success that it was!

Thank you for donating. Thanks to your generosity and support, we met our fundraising goal to provide marchers with water, snacks, sunscreen, security and all the logistics necessary to make a safe and effective mobilization. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Thank you for showing your support on social media. Your support kept the marchers going! We read your #NRA2DOJ tweets and posts aloud throughout the 18.6 miles. And by sharing the mobilization and your reactions to it, you helped inspire dozens more solidarity actions across the country. Because of you, the message spread: No one is safe until everyone is safe. If you missed us Saturday at the DOJ, you can watch the #NRA2DOJ vigil here, and check out the great news coverage we got as well!
