Based on my experience growing up in the Philippines and then I was trained as homebirth student midwife in the USA, I believe that
the Philippines will not have a big market for non-invasive prenatal tests (NIPT, molecular) as new and younger mothers are careful to not take drugs or alcohol in the first trimester so that the prevalence of down syndrome is negligible when compared to that of the USA.
Having no need for invasive amniocentesis, an NIPT is a much safer way of assessing if the mother would have a down syndrome baby.

Instead of a pap smear, we have HPV molecular tests, faster, non invasive and affordable. Instead of biopsy, blood molecular tests for early lung cancer detection and other cancer tests are already here with an affordable and faster molecular tests. Email Connie.
