Senate GOP tax bill would add $1 trillion to deficit, report says, contradicting White House promise
The White House had promised that the plan would pay for itself, and several Senate Republicans have said they would be hesitant to support a bill that adds to the deficit, creating a potential hurdle for GOP leaders as they seek to pass the measure by Friday.
The embattled secretary of state would be replaced by CIA Director Mike Pompeo, who has become one of President Trump’s most loyal and politically savvy members of the national security team, administration officials confirmed. The plan is expected to be set in motion over the next few weeks.
Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.), the longest-serving member of Congress, is accused of mistreating female aides over two decades. He has been hospitalized for a stress-related illness, a family spokesman said.
