Who won the first Trump-Clinton U.S. Presidential debate?

Who won the first Trump-Clinton U.S. Presidential debate? by Lise Brouillette

Answer by Lise Brouillette:

Clinton was poised, in control, well-prepared and articulate.

Trump was vociferous, repetitive, hyperbolic, intellectually disorganised, rude, confrontational and accusatory, and talking crazy, denying he had said what we had just heard him say minutes before. * He rambled on to the extent that it was sometimes difficult to understand the point he was trying to make (if any), he rudely interrupted Clinton every three seconds, pouted and gesticulated, and blamed Clinton for every ill on the planet.

Logically, this should mean the T-rump has dug his own grave, but… Considering he’s done and said even worse in the past and that he’s still a contender at all, says that Americans are not being rational here. It looks like they love Jerry Springer to the point where they think his TV show should be made real in the White House.

Clinton has tried for the Presidency before, and failed. In spite of widespread racism, it would appear that mysoginy is even worse and that Americans would rather vote for anyone-anyone-a-ny-one, even a Black man if need be, rather that elect a woman. (Unfortunatelty, we’ve seen a version of the same in Québec)

For the sake of America, Canada, and the rest of the world, I sure hope Americans won’t prefer putting a madman at the helm, to voting for a woman. But there is no guarantee, nothing is predictable here because nothing makes sense. Trump shouldn’t even have made it this far.

P.S.: I particularly enjoyed the part when he said, or should I say ‘raged’, that “The US has been screwed by every country in the world”. REALLY? That’s funny, because I seem to remember international courts siding with Canada over the softwood dispute… and the USA flat-out refused to comply. What’s anybody gonna do about it, right? Canada had to renegotiate a new agreement, which was to its disadvantage of course. Oh yeah, the richest, most powerful, most heavily armed, most aggressive and feared country in the world is getting screwed left and right.

* He came back to the floor after the debate was over… Candidates don’t traditionally do that, and Clinton didn’t, but The Trump couldn’t resist tooting his own horn once more. When a journalist asked him to clartify what he had meant when he said he was smart not to pay any taxes, he automatically went into denial mode, stating that he had never said that. And the whole world had just heard him, minutes before!

“Hillary Clinton: Or maybe he doesn’t want the American people, all of you watching tonight, to know that he’s paid nothing in federal taxes because the only years that anybody’s ever seen were a couple of years when he had to turn them over to state authorities when he was trying to get a casino license, and they showed he didn’t pay any federal income tax.

So ––

Donald Trump: That makes me smart.”
