Metabolism pathology was a potential cause of PD

Bioinformatics analysis of PD

Scientists developed an innovative method named “Expression Data Up-Stream Analysis” (EDUSA) that can perform a bioinformatics analysis to identify and rank upstream processes effectively. We applied it to Parkinson’s disease (PD) using a genomic data set available at a public data repository known as Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). In this study, disease-affected genes were identified using GEO2R software, and disease-pertinent processes were identified using EASE software. Then the EDUSA program was used to determine the upstream versus downstream hierarchy of the processes.

Metabolism pathology was a potential cause of PD

The results confirmed the current misfolded protein theory about the pathogenesis of PD, and provided new insights as well. Particularly, our program discovered that RNA (ribonucleic acid) metabolism pathology was a potential cause of PD, which in fact, is an emerging theory of neurodegenerative disorders. In addition, it was found that the dysfunction of the transport system seemed to occur in the early phase of neurodegeneration, whereas mitochondrial dysfunction appeared at a later stage. Using this methodology, we have demonstrated how to determine the stages of disease development with single-point data collection.

My first two months caring for a Parkinson and Alzheimer’s

My first day was massaging her belly with turmeric, ginger and olive oil that I mixed from their kitchen as I relieve her cramps and complains and put her to sleep for an hour.

As I learned about her medical history I developed more holistic healing ways. For her anemia, I add Floradix (iron liquid supplement) in her prune juice/orange juice in the morning.  For breakfast, I add soft boiled eggs, avocado-banana smoothie with yogurt, grounded nuts (walnuts/amonds) and raisins in her oat meal.  I made sure she has breakfast before 9am, lunch before 1pm, snack before 3pm and dinner before 6pm. This schedule protects her adrenal glands and puts energy in her body using whole foods as she lacks many enzymes (papaya, pineapple, avocado and other potassium/magnesium rich foods) which exacerbate her nerve pain (a Vit B12 deficiency).

She had so much stress during the last 15 yrs of her life, caring for bed-bound husband for 10 yrs and death of her sister a month ago.  Driving her to outings, reading the Reader’s Digest, watching funny video in the internet, getting some sunshine, talking with love ones and saying YES to her most of the time.  Finding ways to de-stress an anxious senior is important and massaging the head and limbs is very important. Massage in one direction not rubbing using ginger+turmeric+cocounut+olive oil.

I use melatonin with B vitamins, calcium and magnesium to help put her to sleep.  I have to detox her body from overuse of Tramadol (narcotic pain killer), sugar (she had Type 2 diabetes in the past), over medications and also educated her on the many side effects of each of her medication (including OTCs such as Ibuprofen and Tums).  I tell her to chew her food many times and walk awhile and not lie down on the bed after eating. I helped her with stretching and exercises supporting her joints, motivating her.  I ask her to tell her stories about her past to exercise her memory and know more about her.

I add more garlic, onions, tomatoes, kale and spinach in her cooked lentils/veggies, soups and spaghetti sauce. I add ginger in her favorite tea.

A medication free Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease

risk taker
Doctors acknowledged that the medications for Alzheimer’s, Dementia (early Alzheimer’s) and Parkinson’s disease are not to cure but to relieve their symptoms. Still, many families are giving their love ones with more than 10 kinds of medications per day. You can feel cold stomach, bloating and constipation are the norm. No Seena or prune juice can stop the continued entry of toxic medications. In their kitchen cupboards, you can find canned foods/aspartame/moldy foods/soda, unfiltered water, processed meat in fridge. Stress abound in their lives. There is also the absence of music, massage and sunshine.

Some of our clients (in their 90s) in care homes in the bayarea are OFF medications already and now thriving with gourmet warm meals and dietary supplements, lots of sunshine and exercise and adequate sleep. Some of those who died early loves pork, milk, medications and just sit all day not  visited by their families.

Most of the side effects of toxic medications (neuro meds, narcotics for pain killers, NSAIDs) are dizziness, constipation, insomia, joint pain and Parkinson and Alzheimer’s like symptoms.

Here are some of the healing ways, foods/supplements that can cure the root causes of these mental health issues that started from stress, metal toxins/processed foods, diabetes, high cholesterol, anemia and other metabolic diseases (inflammed intestinal lining, colitis, indigestion):

  • whole foods- raw/cooked (seaweed, avocado, fish, papaya, hormone free eggs, pickled foods, apple cider vinegar, coconut oil, yellow, green and red colored fruits and veggies, ginger, turmeric, lemon grass as tea or in soup, bone broth soup, magnesium rich foods, yams, green tea, garlic, onions, mushrooms)
  • clean water, massage, acupuncture, chiropractor (light and oxygen therapy), EBS (electrical brain stimulation), 12-hr fasting, 1-day detox per week
  • movement/dance, exercise, stretching, deep breathing (100 belly breaths per day), sunshine
  • mental stimulation (reading,conversation,socializing)
  • Vit B12 for nerve pain, Vit B complex for adrenals, Vit C,Vit A,folate, liquid Floradix iron supplement, calcium and magnesium with zinc and Vit D, melatonin, selenium, amino acids (L cysteine), Lutien, 5HTP, Ubiquinol/COQ10, more

Note:  Brain scans of seniors who reached the age of 100 yrs of age show spaces and shrinkage but have no symptoms of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.  Stress, sugar, medications/drugs and alcohol also shrink the brain.  The most likely reasons why some people do not have the symptoms are their activity level, stress level, absence of metal toxins/toxic foods and their habits (getting good sleep, worry less and love more).

Final anti-aging tips: Avoid medications/drugs if possible, get sunshine, take fresh air, clean water, whole foods, avoid sugar/soda/processed foods and get good sleep. Avoid anxiety and dwelling on problems, be happy and dance.

Addiction, risk takers brain scan

scan risk taker

The study, which was conducted by Dr. Francesca Filbey, found that risk-taking teens have hyperconnectivity between the amygdala and areas of the prefrontal cortex associated with critical thinking skills and emotion regulation. The amygdala is responsible for emotional reactions. The nucleus accumbens and prefrontal cortex also showed increased activity, with the former often a point of study in addiction research.

What this all shows is that there’s a correlation between risk-takers and those whose minds are pre-conditioned to addiction.

Self-control systems: a common culprit

Another study from researchers at The University of Texas at Austin, UCLA, and elsewhere, found a link between risk-takers and their brains’ self-control systems. They used specialized software that examined brain regions prior to, and during, both a risky choice and a safe choice, in addition to a video game called Balloon Analogue Risk Task (BART), where participants can show their risk-taking tendencies by choosing to take a risk (by inflating a balloon further and earning money) or playing it safe (stop inflating the balloon and cashing out).

The balloon game is essentially a microcosm of other riskier choices, such as choosing to drink too much before driving home. With each additional drink consumed or additional air put into the balloon, there’s an increased risk of something unpleasant and potentially harmful occurring. The researchers used this concept to help study areas of the brain that are impacted when participants are confronted with a decision that involves risk.

Correlation between the brain and risk-taking

Identifying the link between risk-taking and one’s brain could open several possibilities that have the potential to improve our lives. “Our findings are crucial in that they help identify potential brain biomarkers that, when taken into context with behavioral differences, may help identify which adolescents are at risk for dangerous and pathological behaviors in the future,” says DeWitt.

Similarly, the study that utilized the Balloon Analogue Risk Task accommodates the analysis of risk-taking in a controlled environment with little variability, which suggests that studying the correlation between the brain and risk-taking will become even more useful for scientists as additional research methods, like BART, emerge.

With friends or group

It is well known that teenagers take risks — and that when they do, they like to have company. Teens are five times more likely to be in a car accident when in a group than when driving alone, and they are more likely to commit a crime in a group.

Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Multifactorial Causes

Avoid metal toxins, use your brain and exercise. There are many possible causes of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease including use of medications, lack of sunshine, lack of sleep and stress. 20% of aging adults over 80 might exhibit Parkinsonism and Dementia. Others are so benign but examination of the brain can show these extra spaces in the brain, yet they have lived till 100+ yrs old with grace. Their diet includes yam, fresh and whole foods and no processed foods/sugar in their diet. Most of all they lived in the company of their love ones and have lived an active and sociable lives.

There are many supplements for aging, do eat more enzyme rich whole foods such as papaya, avocado and nuts/seeds.

Sugar, aspartame, metal toxins and processed foods can be toxins to the brain so add fiber in your diet. Stress can kills some brain cells but exercise, sleep and sunshine can help detox the brain.
